Part of the qajaq series, the qajaq sconce is inspired by the Inuit construction of their native qajaq, or kayak, often built out of driftwood and bone, the hull of their boat was then cross-braced with hand made sinew rope, then a shaved skin of seal or caribou would be stretched over the frame and around the cockpit, sewn with a special waterproof stitch, likewise with sinew thread... designed to be sleek in the water and extremely fast, in order to surprise and lance the hunter's dinner. This sconce is made with furniture grade plywood, lashed with sinew thread and a skin of soy based tensile fabric is stretched over it. It is very durable, works indoors and in protected outdoor locations. Hanging on the wall of your house, the qajaq sconce represents the ancient wisdom of the Arctic and makes a miniature kayak hull illuminate your way down a hallway, staircase, study, or bedroom.
